100km challenge
Story
My name is Colin Sampton. Running saved my life.
People around me today see me as the guy who fell in love with running. 10 years ago when I started this journey I hated the experience, could only run 300m before being fully exhausted. Slowly but surely I started feeling better about myself, started losing the weight, my self confidence grew, my outlook on life went from negative to positive. I started getting stronger, I broke through barriers I put on myself both psychically and mentally.
I lost 30kg in total and had such a positive impact on those around me. I truly found my purpose in life, my purpose is to share my positive energy, support and give value to empower everyone around me especially people stuck in a toxic cycle to break away and make positive changes for a more healthy lifestyle.
I was stuck in a toxic cycle of eating and drinking unhealthy, my outlook on life was so negative, I was very depressed overweight spiralling out of control making bad choices in life.
I truly believe in the power of one positive moment of inspiration can change the rest of your life for the better. That's why I applied for the Indigenous Marathon project back in 2013 and was lucky enough to get selected. We had 6 months of training before we ran out first Marathon, not just any Marathon... The New York City Marathon!!!
Being apart of the indigenous Marathon project really opened my eyes to speaking my positive message on a bigger platform. I got the privilege to connect with so many people across the nation, inspiring so many people to make positive healthy lifestyle choices.
On Saturday the 13th of February 2021 I will be attempting to run 100km non-stop. Along the Cairns Esplanade.
I’m doing this because I want to show people that you can do anything when you put your mind to it. I want to show people that you can break the cycle and you can make positive changes for yourself & your community.
I also want to raise crucial funds for the Indigenous Marathon Foundation to continue providing life-changing pathways and opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders like it did for me….
Please support me on my journey. It is going to be tough… the toughest thing I have ever done…. But with your support, we can make a huge difference!!
I've also teamed up with the GVC to help me achieve this big goal. We've also teamed up with some amazing sponsors that have donated some products towards a GVC health and wellness package worth up to $1000 to help give back. For every $1 donation towards the Indigenous Marathon Foundation puts you in the entry to win. Let's get this done for a great cause.
