Dina-mite's March 2020 half marathon trifecta

Story

Running changes lives and after the benefits I've enjoyed through running I wanted to make this next running challenge one that provided opportunities for others to change their lives too.

3 x half marathons in 3 x iconic citites around the world in 4 weeks seemed the perfect challenge to share and take it beyond what I need to do and make it about what this challenge can hopefully do for others.  This is the reason I've made this challenge a fundraising one.  I'm sure it will also provide the motivation I need when the running gets tough, and the finish line seems illusive, to spur me on, knowing others can benefit from me getting across that line.

I came to running in my late-30's and after notching up 2 x marathons, 12+ half marathons and countless shorter runs, I'm also testament to the fact that anyone can run.  I'm no speedster and certainly don't do it to break records, but it has enabled me to loss weight, get fit and healthy, have an excuse for a lot of travelling around Australia and overseas, justify some long, leisurely and delicious brekkies and find some precious and endearing friendships.

I am participating in this event to raise crucial funds for Rob de Castella's Indigenous Marathon Foundation (IMF). The IMF uses running to provide life-changing pathways and opportunities to Indigenous Australians, and create inspiration Indigenous role models. One of IMF's four key programs is the Indigenous Marathon Project (IMP) which annually selects a group of 12 young Indigenous Australians aged 18-30 and trains them to run in the New York City Marathon - with just six months of training.

This opportunity to gives them to courage to unearth their own sense of self-worth and pride by taking on the biggest marathon in the world. Participants also complete a compulsory Certificate IV in Community Recreation, Level 1 Recreational Running Accreditation, First-Aid and CPR qualifications to educate, encourage and motivate their community on the benefits of living an active and healthy lifestyle.

Please support me, and by doing so support this great cause.

THANK YOU
