2018 - Treble Attempt 2

Story

In 2016, I joined the Queanbeyan Deadly Runners to lose weight and spend time with family. This is where I ran my first 5km event back in November 2016.

In January 2017, I joined the Canberra Deadly Runners and got convinced to do the Canberra Running Festival Half Marathon in April. From that, I worked with 4 other Deadly Runners to coach 2 couch to 5km programs, and ran many events: National Indigenous Deadly Fun Run Championships 5km, Gold Coast Running Festival Half Marathon, Forster Running Festival Treble, Melbourne Half Marathon and Carcoar Cup 10km.

I am reattempting the Forster Running Festival's Treble: a crazy half marathon, followed by a 10km, then a cruisy 5km to finish. This is all on a hilly course which switches between sand, dirt and roads. To add to the difficulty and enjoyment, the course takes 4 return trips over the Forster - Tuncurry Bridge.

FUNDRAISING GOALS:

- $500 - DYED RAINBOW BEARD

- $1000 - DYE EYEBROWS

- $1500 - WAX LEGS

- $2000 - GET A BODY PIERCING

I am participating in this event to raise crucial funds for Rob de Castella's Indigenous Marathon Foundation (IMF). The IMF uses running to provide life-changing pathways and opportunities to Indigenous Australians, and create inspiration Indigenous role models. One of IMF's four key programs is the Indigenous Marathon Project (IMP) which annually selects a group of 12 young Indigenous Australians aged 18-30 and trains them to run in the New York City Marathon - with just six months of training.

This opportunity to gives them to courage to unearth their own sense of self-worth and pride by taking on the biggest marathon in the world. Participants also complete a compulsory Certificate IV in Community Recreation, Level 1 Recreational Running Accreditation, First-Aid and CPR qualifications to educate, encourage and motivate their community on the benefits of living an active and healthy lifestyle.

Please support me, and by doing so support this great cause.

THANK YOU
